Abstract

This article addresses the pathology of translations of the Qur'an. At first, the writer deals with the methodology of critical reviewing the translations, pointing out two methods: 1. specific reviewing; 2. general reviewing. Then, he touches upon the history of critical reviewing of translations and points to the books and essays written on critiques. After that, he studies the pathologies of the translations of the Qur'an and divides them into five types: scientific; technical; foundational; ethical; and pathologies of the orientalists' translations. He goes on, then, to deal with each of the above pathologies with an explanation on their instances and indications.
