Abstract

Emphasizing on the impact of religious doctrines on creating peaceful relations and convergence among followers of various religions, the Holy Qur’an has frequently talked about the rebellion of people of the book against this message and their hostilities toward each other. It has also warned Muslims by reminding the clashes and conflicts between Jews and Christians with each other and their hostilities toward them.
With a historical look at the conflicts among various religions, this writing deals with tracing the roots of these hostilities from the viewpoint of the Qur’an, and goes on to stress that Jesus Christ’s main message has been love and affection. Accordingly, it studies the change and decline of values among Christians as caused by the following:
Belief in divinity of Jesus; denial of shari’ah (the sacred law); the dominion and undertakings of the Church, etc.
In the end, it is pointed out that the message of the Qur’an to the people of the book is intended to put an end to hostilities and tensions, returning to justice in the light of monotheism, and keeping away from man-made laws.
