Abstract

This article is the translation of part of Ayatollah Ma’rifat’s writing in response to the misconceptions raised against the Qur’an. In this part, upon comparing and deliberating on the doctrines of both the Qur’an and the Old and New Testaments, the writer has refuted the claim that the Testaments had been the source of writing the Qur’an, and has demonstrated the Qur’an’s independence in expressing the knowledge and the doctrines and its direct reliance on Divine Revelation. He also proceeds to trace the roots of some of the misconceptions and criticisms against the Qur’an which are nowadays brought up by some orientalists or intellectuals, and identifies these doubts as originated from certain early sources. The next part of this article will be published in the next issue.
