Abstract

Fakhr Rāḍī is the first interpreter who has paid the most careful attention to the discourse about the consistency of the verses and has brought about a great development in the relation between the verses in terms of both quality and quantity. He defines relation in three levels. He considers the first level to be in the consistency among various sections of a verse; the second level in the consistency of the verses of a chapter (sūra), including the neighboring or non-neighboring verses; and the third level in the consistency among the verses of two or more chapters of the neighboring or non-neighboring verses.
The present research has been done by library method and analysis and study of views brought up in Fakhr Rāḍī’s Tafsīr and by comparison with other interpretations. The conclusion is stating various “level studies” in Fakhr Rāḍī’s Tafsīr, proving its status in quantitative and qualitative development of the knowledge about the consistency of the verses, and employment of his viewpoints in this respect.
