Abstract

Among the characteristics of the Qur'an is employment of stories for expressing its goals and purposes. Almighty God has stated many of the Qur'anic events, accidents, and incidents in the form of stories so as to better permeate the souls and minds of His servants. Story in the Qur'an is a means for calling to monotheism and living a life of piety. The story of the Prophet Abraham (A.S.) is one of the stories portrayed in the noble verses of the Qur'an and is considered as among the long stories of the Qur'an which is recounted in various chapters and includes all the elements of story, i.e., consisting various incidents. It has a beginning, a topic, main body, and an ending, which are implied from a cause and effect relationship among the incidents and leads to the result intended by the creation of the story, namely, Abraham's faith and his surrender to Divine commands, call to monotheism, and certainty in faith.
