The existence of cohesion governing the components of a sūra has, for some time, attracted the attention of Muslim scholars in Qur'anic studies among the Shī‘as and Sunnīs. This theory is referred to as the thematic unity of the sūra or the geometry of the sūra, for which certain advantages and benefits are recounted.
With reference to the Qur'an and reappraisal of the Qur'an's viewpoint towards itself, one can arrive at the theory of multi-dimensional structure of the Qur'anic sūras. The Qur'an regards itself too complicated to contain only one pivotal theme in its sūras. In other words, the Qur'anic sūras each have pivotal themes one after another, which have intertwined in a sūra in a geometrical, cohesive, and integral way.
The Qur'an regards itself as possessing a Heavenly Reality which in its full form is maximally connected to the Heavenly source that is the Umm al-Kitāb (the Archetypal Book); and both are unified in brief as well as in detail, and as the Heavenly Reality contains different dimensions, this Arabic Qur'an contains various semantic facets and different geometries in a single sūra.
