The Imamate of Abraham (A.S.) is among the issues concerning the meaning and reality of which the interpreters have brought up various viewpoints. This article proceeds to make a critical review of four viewpoints: Imamate as Prophethood, political leadership, leadership of the prophets, and inner guidance; and by adding a fifth perspective of its own (i.e., Imamate as practical pioneering) to the above, goes on to maintain that this perspective seems to be more compatible to the verses of the Qur'an.
