Proper understanding of God's Word requires a comprehensive look by interpreters of the Qur'an at the overt and covert dimensions and aspects of this Divine Scripture; and the successful interpreter is the one who approaches the Qur'an with such a look and employs various expressive and theological tools in this procedure. One of the most important of these tools is context (siyāq). As strong evidence, context closely follows in the footsteps of the word and is inseparable from it; and for this same reason of inseparability, it is regarded as a method of interpreting the "Qur'an through the Qur'an" concerning the verses of the Qur'an.
