The Status and Application of Ḥadīth in Mullā Ṣadrā's Interpretation of the Qur'an

An indication of Mullā Ṣadrā's endeavors on the Qur'an is his interpretation of some chapters and verses as well as his other works called "Asrār al-Āyāt" and "Mafātīḥ al-Ghayb". Similarly, his reference to Divine verses in many of his philosophical and mystical discourses is quite evident; and his elaboration of Uṣūl al-Kāfī and reference to traditions in many of his exegetical and philosophical themes are indication of his special interest in ḥadīth.
In this article, the writer is attempting to bring up and examine the traditions that Mullā Ṣadrā has alluded to in his interpretation of the Qur'anic verses in his exegetical collections.
It is worth mentioning that this eminent interpreter and learned philosopher has alluded to almost two thousand ḥadīths in various sections of his interpretation. Thus, according to the surveys made, it is revealed that he has enjoyed a widespread vision in his reference to the traditions and, in his references to ḥadīth books, and has not discriminated between the Shī‘ī vs. Sunnī sources, exploiting and alluding merely to the traditions related to each subject in its proper place.
