The discourses related to the Qur'an and experimental sciences date back to a thousand years ago, which have at times been called derivation of sciences from the Qur'an, scientific interpretation of the Qur'an, or scientific impression from the Qur'an and have drawn the attention of Muslim and even non-Muslim interpreters and scholars in the vicissitudes of the history of exegesis.
This discourse is in one aspect related to exegesis and in another to the scientific miracle of the Qur'an, and yet in another aspect to experimental sciences. Thus, it is regarded as among the interdisciplinary and fundamental discourses for other interdisciplinary discourses such as "the Qur'an and political sciences", "the Qur'an and economy", "the Qur'an and social sciences", "the Qur'an and cosmology", etc.
In the passing of history, this method has found many proponents and opponents and at times has gone to extremes. In this article the moderate method, i.e. the employment of sciences in understanding the Qur'an, and the new methods, namely, scientific theorizations on the basis of scientific verses of the Qur'an in line with the canalization of humanities is defended and the other methods such as derivation of all the experimental sciences from the Qur'an or imposing scientific theories on it is critically reviewed.
