The writer has attempted in this article to review one of the exegetical foundations of Allameh Tabataba’i in “Al-Mizan” from the linguistic point of view. Touching upon Allameh’s various viewpoints about numerous dimensions of “coinage” and language, the writer concludes that Allameh Tabataba’i has founded a specific theory that is called “purposeful coinage”. He finally indicates various applications of this theory in the verses related to Divine Actions, Divine Attributes, Heavenly realities, and some other verses.
