This article deals with a research on paganism (jahilliyah) and the pagan culture from the Qur’anic viewpoint. At first, the compounds and the derivatives of the term “jahl” (ignorance) in the Qur’an are introduced and then the meaning and intention of them in functional cases are reviewed from the viewpoint of some interpreters as well as orientalists. In this line, the writer has evaluated some features and customs of the pagan culture.
