What features and advantages does the Prophet have which distinguish him from others? To answer this question, the writer names three approaches: 1. epistemical approach, 2. responsibility approach, and 3, situational approach. In the first approach, he examines various viewpoints which all view Divine knowledge (ma‘rifat) as the Prophet's distinctive feature.
In the second approach, the specific responsibility and mission of the Prophet is introduced as his distinctive feature which the writer deals with from two viewpoints. And in the third approach, the Prophet's status and reputation is known to be the basis of his distinction from others. Upon surveying various viewpoints, the writer points out an integral viewpoint in his three approaches which regards the distinctive feature in three things.
