Interdisciplinary studies in the Qur’an, as an emerging research approach, examine the various dimensions of sacred texts to extract deeper meanings and concepts, aiming to achieve a more profound understanding of complex and multifaceted issues. This type of study specifically arises in response to the challenges of modern society and global issues, such as the realms of culture, social inequalities, and more. The present article addresses the methodology of interdisciplinary studies in the Qur’an, its challenges, opportunities, necessities, and its impact on a better understanding of Qur’anic texts. Simultaneously, it explores how to integrate various disciplines—such as exegesis (tafsīr), history, sociology, psychology, and linguistics—to achieve a deeper grasp of concepts and to answer the following questions: How do interdisciplinary studies contribute to a better understanding of the Qur’an? What are the requirements and imperatives of such studies? What are the potential challenges in this path, and how can they be overcome? What opportunities does the outcome of such studies provide in the field of knowledge? Finally, a case study of the intersection between the Qur’an and sociology is presented using this methodology.
