The text of narrative reports that do not have a reliable document is refined by certain criteria such as the Qur’an, Sunna, history, science, sense, experience, consensus and definite intellect. The importance of the Qur’an as the first source of transmission of religious teachings and the explanatory role of the Sunna for the Qur’an, reveals the significance of the Divine words for validation of the hadith. The existence of various denotations in the Divine words, along with different approaches and interpretations of the content and the reverent of the principle of presentation, has caused Muslim scholars not to delineate a clear and uniform procedure from the process of referring the hadith to the Qur’an. This article uses analytical-exploratory method to find valid types of “the referred to” (ma‘rūḍu ‘alayh) in the rule of referring hadith to the Qur’an and to explain each of the possible types in the process of benefiting from this rule. Explaining the optimal points and damages to each of the aforementioned types is another achievement of this research. Finally, by explaining the fundamental component in the criteria for validating the hadith, i.e., making assurance, a logical achievement in the use of the Qur’an for the process of examining the content of the hadith is presented.
