Among the sciences required for interpretation, the commentators receive the most benefit from morphology and syntax in their initial encounter with a verse. The practical recognition of this claim and the extent of the influence of those sciences in interpretation is an issue that this article is intended to answer. To prove this claim in a descriptive-analytical manner, this research has limited the search to Al-Suwar al-Mi’īn (Sūras consisting of over 100 āyas) and, by extracting cases of the applications of the proposed morphological and syntactic views in the interpretations of Tasnīm and Rūḥ al-Ma‘ānī, has reached the conclusion that both interpreters do not differ morphologically in the meaning of the words; except in the interpretive impression of the meaning of "Ẓallām" "ihtadā” and "a‘mā". However, concerning syntax, in relation to antecedent and the relative "mā", there are differences between them that are mostly influenced by the interpreter's understanding of the text; although Ayatollah Javadi Amoli also provides supportive evidences for his view from the context and other verses.
