The viewpoints of ‘Allāma Ṭabāṭabā‘ī in the field of beauty and morality has a special richness and prominence among commentators.
The author has tried, as far as possible, to elucidate ‘Allāma’s viewpoints about aesthetics and ethics in Almīzān. In this respect, the nature of beauty and ugliness, the relationship between ethics and aesthetics are described in this article and it is made clear that ‘Allāma believes that moral beauty is relative, which is partly constant and partly varied. He also brings up, in a discursive and well-reasoned way, the issue of attribution of beauties to God and clearly explains how the enticement of sensual acts is attributed to the Satan. ‘Allāma has accurate and exclusive explanations on aesthetic beauties and presents valuable commentaries on the explanation of ethical beauties brought up in the Qur’ān.
