Surah al-͑Ādiyāt is one of the Qur'anic Surahs, which various narrations and views have been reported about whether it is Meccan or Medinan and the atmosphere of the revelation of it. In addition, the oaths at the beginning of the surah and the semantic relationship between the verses of the surah have brought problems for the commentators. The present study has used the discursive approach to explain these issues. Understanding the dominant discourse of the surah makes it possible to know the view and the situation of its revelation and shows how the Qur'an has behaved in the face of its first audiences.
The results and findings of the present study show that Surah al-͑Ādiyāt is a Meccan Surah whose central theme is the expression of approaching and surrounding of the Resurrection. This meaning is formed by involving the different senses of the subject of the narrative and the feelings and emotions arising from his lived experience. Moreover, the oaths of the beginning of the surah are related to the horses themselves as a familiar phenomenon in the daily and uncivilized life of the Arabs of the age of revelation, which has serious emotional dimensions in their culture and language.
