Tafsīr Min Waḥy al-Qur’ān is a dignified work by ‘Allāma Faḍl Allāh. This tafsīr is published in 24 volumes in an ordinal interpretation format. Three mathods of Qur’ān through Qur’ān, traditional, and rational interpretations are employed by the author in this tafsīr and the two methods of scientific and verbal interpretations are considered as rejected. Some of the significant features of this tafsīr are: avoiding dealing with non-exegetical discourses, pithy saying, utilitarianism, following the style of the Qur’ān in details and epitomes, utilitarianism, knowledge of misconceptions (doubtology), drawing conclusions, free-mindedness, familiarity of the writer with modern knowledge, presenting tafsīr within the context of questions and answers, exegetical refinement, and confrontation with the interpreters’ viewpoints.
Some of ‘Allāma’s criteria in exegetical refinement are: eliminating unnecessary matters and omission of undocumented interpretations.
As for the confrontation with the interpreters’ opinions, such issues as context, rhetoric, literature, Revelation of the Qur’ān, the outer aspects of the verses, and the climate of the verses, are used in critical assessment of the interpreters’ viewpoints.
