This writing examines the application of the Qur'an in Shahīd al-Thānī's legal reasoning (ijtihād). In the beginning, the writer has addressed three topics of learning the Qur'an, Qur'anic studies, and learning interpretation, as well as the works left behind by the Shahīd. Then, he has proceeded to explicate the viewpoint of al-Shahīd al-Thānī on the status and application of the Qur'an in ijtihād. The main structure of this research consists of presenting objective examples of the application of the Qur'an in fundamentals of ijtihād, knowledge, and uṣūl (principles of jurisprudence), as well as drawing inferences of legal ordinances on the basis of the Qur'anic verses.
