The writer first gives the definition of faith from the viewpoints of such theologians as Ījī, Fakhr al-Rāzī, Ibn Maytham al-Baḥrānī, ‘Allāma Ḥillī, and Taftāzānī, and states al-Shahīd al-Thānī's viewpoint about them. According to the writer, the above definitions by the theologians are not acceptable by Shahīd al-Thānī; therefore the latter has presented an alternative definition concerning the nature of faith.
